How to File a Home Insurance Claim

By December 16, 2013July 29th, 2019No Comments

As a homeowner, you understand that the proper home insurance is crucial. You never know when the unexpected will come knocking and you will be forced to file a claim! If this is the case, do not fret. You may not know where to begin, but that is why our agents at Nulty Insurance are here. We want to make sure that you are able to file a claim as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Here are the steps to take…

#1: File a claim immediately. The sooner you file a claim, the sooner your home and damages will be covered and repaired. If you wait too long, your claim may be denied.

#2: Do not repair the damage on your own. If you need a temporary fix, make sure it LOOKS like a temporary fix. If an adjuster comes to your home only to find a nicely done repair, you may not get covered the way you wanted to.

#3: Fill out the forms ASAP. Once your insurance company sends you over the form to file a claim, be sure to get it back to them as soon as you can. You do not want to stall the process any more than you need to.

#4: Have an adjuster check out the damages. All damages are required to be inspected. Be sure to make time in your busy schedule to have a claims adjuster over. Gather all the necessary paperwork and receipts ahead of time in order to make this process easier for you and the adjuster.

#5: Do not settle. Not satisfied with the final claim settlement? Look around for other estimates!

By following this procedure, you are sure to have your home repaired and fixed up in no time. If you are not happy with your insurance provider, it may be time to look into a new home insurance company. At Nulty Insurance, we can provide you with a reliable homeowners policy that will cover: the structure of your home, replacement costs, additional living expenses, personal possessions and liability. Do not settle for a company if you are not happy. This is YOUR home and it should be protected the way you want it to be!
